It's Hot!

All I have to say is that it is too hot for me.  It is supposed to hit 90° F today and its humid too. Hubby took the girls to the beach.  Lake Michigan is a balmy 72° F.  There will be lots of people swimming...and the channel where we take the girls is probably like bath water.  I decided that nothing sounds better than some quiet time in the air conditioning today.

I went to the dollar store (Dollar Tree) a few days ago and I have to show you the best thing I have bought in ages.  It is my favorite thing right now.

It's double walled so it doesn't sweat and the best part is the top.  My kitty, Salem, likes to drink out of water glasses.  He doesn't try to knock them over but sometimes he does (we had a cat once who did that on purpose).  We have to be careful not to leave full water glasses just sitting unattended.  I like to have a glass of water next to the bed at night.  Well....you can see what is going to happen can't you?
This glass has solved it.  No water bottles, no saucers on top of the glass (which I manage to knock off when I try to get a drink in the dark)....and no cat standing on my head trying to get a drink.  Such a simple solution for $1.

I discovered these flowers in my garden!  Actually, I planted them a couple years ago, just forgot they were there.  I really like them and I have no idea what they are.  Can anyone tell me the name of these flowers?  There is a hydrangea in the background.

And just because I can....a picture of a Lake Michigan sunset for you.  Full disclosure: this picture credit goes to my niece, Sandy.  This picture was taken in Ludington, MI.
Pure Michigan at its finest.

Til next time,
Peace

  1. Ah, your lake Michigan sunset is gorgeous. It's been cool, in the 70's for several days here but today the warm up began again. Upper 90's by Thursday for the foreseeable future. I'm so disappointed. My sister and her husband from Iowa are coming to visit next week and it's been miserably hot and humid there. I was hoping they would have a respite while visiting here. I don't think we'll be that lucky. At least there is no humidity to speak of.

I had one of those nice cups like you bought. Hubby bought it for me at Starbucks on Maui. It worked perfectly, just like you said, until our granddaughter dropped in on the tile floor and it cracked. I'm going to keep my eye out for another one.
    Stay cook Marilyn.
    Blessings,
    Betsy

  2. I always have ice water by my side in a lidded cup like that. I refill it a few times a day. I'm always knocking it over or dropping it. That lid saves a lot of frustration and clean-up for me! Those purple flowers are very pretty. Love the pictures in your last post too!

  4. Sandy's picture is really lovely. What a great buy you made for $1! It will be well used I'm sure.

  5. I have a covered Tervis Tumbler that I use bedside, but it cost considerably more than one dollar. However, if it cracks or the seal breaks I get a free replacement.
    The sunset is absolutely gorgeous.

  6. We need those times to ourselves! If they were forever we wouldn't like it, but a break is great. LOVE the sunset image.
