There were lots of flowers and baked goods and such. Its too early here for much local produce, but its asparagus time!
There are lots of asparagus farms around here. I picked asparagus occasionally as a teenager. It is hard back breaking work snapping off those spears.
We bought a couple pounds of local asparagus just to eat fresh. I will probably get some to freeze later on.
Of course we didn't make it past all the baked goods without buying a treat...3 chocolate chunk cookies dipped on one side in peanut butter glaze. This picture looks kind of blurry...I am using a new phone and I guess I need more practice.
As we left we drove through the downtown area. We discovered an invasion of gigantic birds had settled in for awhile.
This last guy is my favorite....his feathers are plastic trash bags. They are all constructed from small tree branches.
The downtown area is undergoing revitalization with new shops and craft breweries and condos. It is along the lakeshore and there is a lot of potential here. I guess the birds are one more attraction. They definitely draw your attention.
Hope you are having a good day.
Til next time,
Peace
I love those birds and the asparagus looks pretty good too!

DeleteFor me, nothing says spring like asparagus! I do love farmers' markets...plan to support them this season instead of wrestling with a garden myself.
