I took a walk around the yard today and thought I'd share what's growing around here.
The chives are flowered. I use fresh chives once in awhile, but mostly I just enjoy the flowers.
I love the hostas around my happy old tree. They make me feel peaceful when I look at them. The old tree has held a tire swing, climbing kids, and a cat or two in its lifetime. We have lots of trees around our house....this is the only one I am really attached to.
Around to the left side behind the tree.....
The deer must have decided the salad bar was open last night. In the past we have had luck placing clumps of dog fur in and around our plants to keep deer away. We no longer have a dog so I guess I need to find another way to repel them. Any suggestions?
At least they couldn't get into this salad bar! Lettuce and cauliflower starting to look good.
My blueberry daylily opened yesterday. It is cream color with a purplish blue center.
I planted 2 hanging baskets with impatiens. I bought a flat and did 2 big pots on my deck and 2 baskets. I knew I had a mixed color flat but the plants didn't have any flowers so I wasn't sure what colors I was planting next to each other. Looks pretty good I think.
I love impatiens....they will flower all summer. And you can't beat $5 to fill 2 big pots and 2 baskets.
The sun is shining today. Hope you are enjoying a beautiful day where ever you are.
Til next time,
Peace
You have some lovely things growing!
ReplyDeleteThanks Michelle!
DeleteWhat a lovely walk around your yard. I was born in the same house in Nebraska that I lived in until I got married. We're in our fourth home since we we married so I have none of those "forever" long term memories of any of my homes. The fact that you have the memories warms my heart.
ReplyDeleteI have heard human hair will also repel deer and that hair salons will usually be happy to give you their sweepings.
Blessings,
Betsy
Betsy, we built this house soon after we were married....it does hold lots of wonderful memories for us. I am getting my hair cut next week and will ask for a bag of hair to go!
DeleteYour hostas look great. I am planning to make some chive vinegar with the flowers from my chives. They have become more of a weed in my yard!
ReplyDeleteThe chive vinegar sounds good! I never thought if doing that....might try it.
DeleteBeautiful flowers. My daughter is our gardener now. She has a green thumb. I'll post some pictures on my blog. :)
ReplyDeleteI would love to see some pictures!
DeleteYour garden looks so beautiful. I put dog hair and people hair (after a hair cut) down among my plants and that helps with the deer, also Irish Spring Soap cut up into chunks, but in only last through one or two rains.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Meredith
Lovely flower photos! I love flowers, too. Let me know if Mere's ideas work! We only have an occasional deer, but it's rabbits that make me crazy. They are so cute but always hungry.
ReplyDeleteThanks Judy. I just saw a bunny in our yard this morning. I love to watch them as long as they stay out of the veggies.
Deletethat's a beautiful daylily you have there. We have rabbits and chipmunks nibbling on our plants.
ReplyDeleteI just planted the daylily and fell in love with the color. Rabbits and chipmunks here too. The chipmunks seem to be busy around the bird feeder. The bunnies can do some damage.
DeleteA beautiful, big garden, your hanging baskets are so pretty xx
ReplyDeleteHi Cheryl, I'm so glad to meet you. Thank you for following. I just added your blog to my list too.
